I have had multiple accounts with Bank of America for 15+ years, both business and personal, including credit and checking. One card has never worked on Autopay. I called and they could not resolve. I escalated and their tech team still could not resolve. Over the past two years I have had 8-10 instances of being charged late fees because their Autopay has a glitch. I have cards with many other banks, all on Autopay with no issues. Bank of America refused to credit some of the late fees even after I went into the branch and their banker admitted the app did not work correctly for setting up my Autopay. Furthermore, over 15 years, BOFA has not updated their website or technology at all, likely because the old system is complicated and harder for customers to figure out how to set up Autopay, even when it does work. Awful experience.
I opened a checking account with Wells Fargo recently. I went to fund it using their mobile app and it failed to work using two different methods. One was mobile check deposit that failed. I went into the branch the next day and deposited a check instead. After checking my ID and depositing, the said they would hold me check for 7 business days to clear - not ideal, but I said ok. Shortly after, I get a call that my account was closed for fraud. Now I can't even login to pay my credit cards and the money is in limbo between banks. I've had to call multiple times and eventually go into the branch where the banker had to call the fraud department. I am still waiting for my funds to be released and my account has been closed with no reason given. What is even more concerning is that they had registered the check ID from mobile deposit (that told me it didn't work on the app) and did not have a record of the check I deposited with the teller.
